Thank You
The family of Pauline Vicars (Sid and sister Dee Dee) would like to
thank all friends and members of the KARC who came to the funeral, sent
condolences, or helped in any. It was much
appreciated. After Earl passed away in 2001 Pauline still enjoyed attending
club activities and fully expected her News Letter each month. Many members remember taking road trips with
Earl and Pauline and the ole 41 Chevy.
Thanks everyone. (Sid)

Donations
If you missed the June club meeting,
Treasurer Jim Collier gave us a run down on what it takes to put on our annual
Wilderness Trail Show. I think it is relevant to anyone
who reads this N Letter. Our total costs for the 2010 show were $7300. Also to
kind of toot our own horn, we voted to donate $1500 to the Ronald McDonald House in
Members Machines and Gossip
Maynard Ketron has decided to install a new Ididit tilt column in his 37 Ford, and enlisted the help of
a few KARC members, mostly for technical advice.
Also Maynard is installing another 9” Ford rear axle housing, considering
he has had problems with axle bearings in his current axle housing. However Maynard is willing to part with the
troublesome housing for a few hundred dollars. Maynard is said to now be back
driving with a big smile on his face.

Frank Carr now has a 46 Ford Coupe, that he
says he likes better than the 38 Chevy
Mack Armstrong’s 40 Buick Coupe continues along nicely, and last report
was seat brackets were being fabricated.
The wiring was done, dash finished, and the engine had been fired. Mack
and Glens brother James
is working on a 50 ? Ford PU for his son, that
will sport a flathead with dual carbs, and running an
early 50’s Ford automatic transmission.

John Stolz’s 38
Chevy is in the upholstery shop and is probably close to being completed.
Bruce Roberts 56 Chrysler wagon was selected
for a Top 30 Pick at the recent Moonshine Run in
Charlie Ball reported the Moonshine run had
481 entries, with a few showers and about a dozen or so KARC members.
Mike Smith couldn’t take his 68 442 to the
Moonshine Run, as it was too new. Anyone
that didn’t know, Mike’s DeSoto left in May, leaving
Mike without an early street rod. Rumors
are also circulating that Mike has a potential buyer for his 39 Buick
convertible.
Old friend and ex KARC member Ken Talley attended
the June meeting, and had already bought another KARC members street rod. That being Steve Krumps 36 Ford 2 dr. Ken and his wife Linda did many trips with
Earl and Pauline Vicars.
Apparently there two other organizations,
besides our own Jim Bledsoe’s VSRA, who are attempting to start up a pre 48
only street rod national organizations.
And apparently they have the same name.
Remember Jim’s is called the Vintage Street Rodders of America.
Larry Prillhart
continues to scan the internet buying parts for his 47 Ford 2dr. I understand he is installing disc all the
way around, and maybe a 383” Chevy is in the works.
Speaking of 383 Chevys, I hear the
possibility of one of those could also be going in one of Jim Colliers machines.(56 Chevy or 47 Ford).
Listed below in events is the WingsNWheels show at the Abingdon, VA Airport. Many members of our club have attended before
and most have enjoyed, other than have had some parking problems. As such they have decided to cut back on the
number of cars this year to a total of 260, and you must be
pre-registered. You can register online
at 222.abingdonkiwanis.org. Unfortunately the annual Kingsport Fun Fest Car
Show is scheduled the same weekend as the above WingsNWheels
show. They are moving downtown this
year, looking for a little shade, I hear.
